Overlooking the beautiful plains of the Lauragais at an altitude of 360 m, the village of Fanjeaux is sure to charm you with its rich heritage. You can relive its Cathar history dating back to the 13th century, and immerse yourself in the spirituality of the cradle of the Dominican Order. The surrounding area is less than half an hour away: the Cité de Carcassonne, the UNESCO-listed Canal du Midi, Castelnaudary, world capital of cassoulet, the book village of Montolieu and the beautiful Lauragais countryside, where numerous hiking trails (the GR78 pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela passes through the village of Fanjeaux) offer great walks and bike rides.
In the village, you'll find a wide range of shops within easy walking distance: café, restaurant, grocery store, quality fast-food restaurant (Occitan Burger) with fresh local produce, bakery-pastry shop, tobacconist, chemist's shop and doctor's surgery on certain days of the week. The Tourist Office is just a few meters from the gîte.
You can park your vehicle next to the gîte in the public parking lot, and a second shaded parking lot is also nearby. In the first parking lot, just two steps from the gîte, you'll find two electric vehicle charging stations.
The gîte is located in a charming, typical village lane, on one level, and opens onto a large living room with sofa (sleeps 2 children or teenagers) and TV, a dining table and an open-plan kitchen. The bedroom area opens onto the living room with a 160x200cm bed and faces two other small rooms: the laundry area with washing machine and the shower room (shower, WC and washbasin).
Bed linen, towels and end-of-stay cleaning included. Baby equipment available on request. Pets welcome at extra cost (€5/pet/stay). WIFI connection.
