In the local taverns, in addition to local specialties, you can also try ?jarbola?, a wine with a particular taste, made from the local grape variety. Opatija, the center of the Riviera, was once a famous spa and is now a popular wellness and health tourism center for tourists from all over the world. Due to its mild and pleasant climate, a combination of coastline and mountainous hinterland, it is an ideal tourist destination all year round. One of the sights that adorn it are houses and villas with interesting architecture from the Habsburg period. One of them is Villa Angiolini, which houses the Museum of Tourism. Cultural events include numerous concerts and festivals in the summer. You can take day trips to the nearby islands or to the national parks of U?ka, Risnjak or Plitvice. Take a day off for a day trip to Istria.
