show more village lies to the south of the island of Gozo and leads to the islands highest cliffs, Ta Cenc, which are 130 metres high and host at their top some small archaeological sites. The cliffs were important at the times of the Knights as they provided an excellent breeding ground for their Peregrine falcons and are now home to a large colony of Corry Sheerwaters. On the plateau overlooking the village lie the remains of a temple and several menhirs (megalithic standing stones). Sannat has several building with Moorish style balconies and other features showing an old arabian influence. The village was once famous for its lace-making and even today you can see women sitting on their door steps lace knitting and chatting.
