Property no. 1312602
Holiday home for max. 4 persons
Višnjan, Istria, (Istrian Riviera), Croatia
Typically Istrian holiday house with a garden, surrounded by nature
The house is in the little village of Babudri, just a kilometre from the town of Visnjan, in the continental part of the Istrian peninsula and near the sea. The house is accessed along a road past a pine forest on one side and vineyards on the other.
The house is surrounded by 2000m² of pristine nature. There are pheasants, hares, deer and indigenous birds. You can spend a quiet summer afternoon or evening in front of or behind the house, in the shade. There is a big stone barbecue for grilling and garden furniture is provided. You can park right next to the house on site.
The holiday house is made of stone, as houses used to be built in Istria. It is on two floors and can accommodate four people. The ground floor has a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. The living room provides two sofas, two armchairs and a stone fireplace. Next to it there is the spacious dining space with a dining table and chairs. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, toaster, coffee machine and washing machine, as well as a dining table with chairs. The bathroom comprises a shower, washbasin and toilet. Wooden stairs lead to the first floor, which has two bedrooms with a double bed and two single beds. A cot and a highchair can be provided.
It is only a ten-minute walk to Visnjan. It is a 12km drive to Porec, the most famous holiday destination in Istria. In Visnjan there are some shops, a post office, a pharmacy, a bank and two restaurants. Gamay is a typical Istrian restaurant with local specialities. You can sample excellent regional wines, red or white, Teran Malvasia, and buy it directly from the producers in their beautifully decorated cellars, where you will also be offered various types of Istrian liqueurs and the famous Istrian honey or olive oil. Visnjan is famous worldwide for its observatory and its director Korade Korlevic (whom an asteroid was named after). You can visit the Baredine cave near Nova Vas and the Geno-Park with Istrian cattle. A folkloric fair is held in Visnjan on the last Thursday in the month. The 22 July is a holiday day for the patron saint Marija Magdalena. The Visnjan surroundings provide the opportunity to go on long walks through pristine nature, on waymarked and well-maintained hiking and cycling trails, and you can go paragliding from the hills around Kastelir castle. The sea is 12km away. You can swim at one of the many beaches around Porec and in the evenings go for walks through medieval towns such as Vrsar, Porec and Novigrad, where a variety of events are held on different days.
You can hire bicycles at a supplementary charge for exploring the beautiful landscape. You can drink the tap water everywhere in Croatia and do not need to buy any.
